Josh was born to Martin and Linda Valcárcel, missionaries to Spain. He has lived his whole life involved with music, and from a very early age started to play the piano, which is his "main" instrument. He married Marta in 2003 and they have three children, Jemimah, Nuria and Josh.

Currently, Josh is one of the pastors of the Iglesia Biblica Valle de Hebrón in Barcelona, Spain. He enjoys collecting hymnals and setting new tunes to old texts. He is self-employed as an English teacher in the towns surrounding Sant Celoni, where they live.
